The First Warsaw Golf Club - the place of tou

The First Warsaw Golf and Country Club will host the Golf Poland Tournament during The 2nd GBC April next year. The Club is located 25kms north of the Polish Capital. It is par 71 golf course that features some breath taking holes. The course itself was established in 1991 and was designed by Jan Sederholm.
It is the oldest course in Warsaw and has hosted many top-level tournaments, including the Polish Open, The Final of the Armada/Deutsche Pro-Am Tour and a European Championship event. The course is 6035 meters from the back tees, which might be considered short by Championship standards but with the large amount of water and formidable trees, it shows it teeth to anybody that does not think the course through.
There are many holes that one could consider the signature hole for the course but the official signature hole is the fourth. This 391m par-4 is aptly named “Devil’s elbow” because of the tricky dog-leg left. The first problem that one is confronted with is that most of the time the hole plays into the prevailing wind. The long hitters can push a drive long and right, leaving themselves a clear shot in but not without danger, they still have to negotiate two sets of bunkers. The average golfer can hit down the middle but depending on how far they travel, a lay-up short and right of the green for two is the wise option. Once on the green there is still the two tiers to overcome and being on the wrong level can make a two-putt very tricky.
The thirteenth is another great hole because of the tricky approach shot. It’s a 371m par-4 that is named “Roulette” because of the gamble on the second shot. After a narrow tee-shot, where going left will leave you dead in the trees, you are still left with a “hit or miss” approach. The problem is the massive 25m high tree situated almost directly in front on the green. This tree can cause even the most experienced pro to pull out some hair because a perfectly struck shot can be caught by the tree and spat out in any direction.

“It’s not over till the fat lady sings” is a saying that can be heard often on the 18th tee. This is a hole that can change a game. It’s a 360m par-4 that is named “Your Choice” because that’s exactly what it requires of you. The 90degree dog-leg left begs the question – “how much can I cut off?” This is a classic risk and reward hole and the approach also has its threats. There is a big bunker on the right, with a hazard just behind that. Over the green is out of bounds and the two tiers again forces the player to pick the correct club.
The parklands design and layout of the course challenges golfers of all levels and is a true test of the game.
The Club House boosts an excellent restaurant and bar, which is a superb place to relax after a great round of golf. There are changing rooms available and the Pro Shop is fully equipped to cater for the needs of all golfers.
