| Andrzej MiÄ™kus has many years of experience in organising new business ventures, above all in the area of media and marketing. Even during his studies at SzkoĹ‚a GĹ‚owna Planowania i Statystki (currently SGH- Warsaw School of Economics) at the Foreign Trade faculty he started work for Polish Television as a reporter for news and business programmes (Teleexpress, WiadomoĹ›ci, Panorama). He went through the ranks from reporter and presenter to director and producer of his own programmes. He specialised in business topics, and between 1989-2001 he created several hundred programmes within the framework of series such as: Express Gospodarczy, TelegieĹ‚da (concerning the Stock Market), Od KapitaĹ‚u do kapitaĹ‚u (From das Kapital to capital- concerning capital markets) and others. He was one of the first journalists explaining to Poles the problem of privatisation and market reforms, being simultaneously (between 1990-91) Media advisor to Finance minister Balcerowicz. Since 1992, has concentrated on business organising “start-ups” for the following ventures (President of the Management Board and Director General): • Business Press publishing house (1992-1994)- publisher of "Businessman Magazine", business press, training and book publishing; • Reader’s Digest PrzeglÄ…d (Review) (1995-99) – under his management it became a leading book publisher in Poland (no.2 in Poland), music publisher (no. 5, in general, no.1 in classical music), video (no. 1 in the “sell trough” sales segment) and press (PrzeglÄ…d monthly was in the top five in terms of readership). RDP became a leader on the direct marketing market creating operating standards for many other firms. Simultaneously, as the Branch Office of the Reader’s Digest corporation operating in 48 countries, RDP has become one of the top six operations in the Digest world (behind the USA, Great Britain, France, Germany and Australia) in terms of revenues and profitability; • Stowarzyszenie Marketingu BezpoĹ›redniego (Direct Marketing Association) (1995-2000) – an organisation gathering together several dozen companies from the marketing industry, which to this day is one of key official players operating on the marketing and advertising market. • Golf Investments (shareholder and CEO)- the founder of „Mazury Golf & Country Club”, one of the best golf resorts in Poland. Currently Andrzej MiÄ™kus heads the „SMART MARKETING SOLUTIONS” marketing agency which specializes in sports and strategic marketing. SMS Agency is the main partner of Polish Golf Union and helps creating and implementing the golf promotion and marketing program "Now golf". It creates and manages other sport marketing programs for clients (Carrefour, Lotos, SAP etc). Also, the Agency represented Mateusza Kusznierewicz, the Polish olimpic champion in sailing in its move from Finn to Star class and attempt to get the gold medal in Beijing. |
